Acolatse Signed by Sharks

~
The Pipeline Show has learned that Prince George Cougars defenceman Sena Acolatse has been signed by the San Jose Sharks. The 20-year-old is in his final season in the WHL and has earned the 3-year entry level contract with his performance for the Cougars.

The part-Edmonton, part-California product was originally drafted by the Seattle Thunderbirds with a 4th round pick back in 2005. He played three and a half seasons with the T-birds before being acquired by Saskatoon in 2009-10. The Blades dealt him to the Cougars early this year to get down to their 20-year-old quota and Prince George has received the most productive year of his junior career.

Acolatse is a 5'11, 208 lb blueliner that has always been a willing combatant. However, this year he's added an offensive component to his game. He has 119 PIM but along with that he's compiled 56 points through 58 games with PG.

Here is the confirmation from San Jose that came down about half an hour after we posted the notice above.

Congrats to him.
This young man is a very good junior player and will likely have a strong pro career.
